Design: Randomized clinical trial

Demographics

  •  Adults with back Pain ≥ 4 out of 10

  •  Pain lasting longer then 6 months

  •  Mean Age: 41.1 y/o

  •  151 participants in study

3 Groups

  •  Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) treatment group

  •  Usual Care control group

  •  Open Label Placebo control group 

Study Results

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) Group

  •  98% responded with decreased pain

  •  66% had no or almost no pain at end of study

  •  Improvements maintained over 12-month follow-up

Usual Care and Placebo Groups

  •  Marginal changes in pain observed
